The week before the TESOL course started I was able to make friends with this Ban Phe fishing family. I would help them pull in their nets every morning around 7:30 or so. In exchange they would let me take pictures of them and try to give me fish. After they discovered my interest wasn't culinary, they found me a very dead, very spiky puffer fish to bring home. It was amazingly cool. It quickly putrified on our balcony and had to be discreetly discarded. The man laying in the water is holding the bottom edges of both sides of the net together, to prevent escapees.
