Large hotels often have spectacular spirit houses, as large as garden sheds or small garages. They are glittery and illuminated by spot lights at night. This gaudy structure stands in Nakhon Si Thammarat, beside the Twin Lotus Hotel. The spirit house is guarded by cement elephants and has several tables for stacking the daily offerings. This is a close up of the base of one such table and the massive structure that supports the house. The mosaic is made of pieces of brightly colored plastic glued onto a concrete form.
