Singapore's sweetest surprise was a water fountain in front of the Seiyu department store. Four powerful water streams point inwards and are surrounded by a set of jets that can blast water thirty feet straight into the air. The various jets run on a very unpredictable pattern, sometimes playfully tossing little squirts into the air, other times shooting continuous intersecting arcs of water, sometimes throwing a torrent of water up to fall like rain. The water jets make a 'kerplunking' noise that gives the proceedings a rhythmic, musical quality.
Most magical of all was the way kids took to it, splashing through or trying to guess where the next jet of water would be coming from. The fountain was built by WET design of Universal City, California.
